I don't think the U.S. is a bully. We have come to the aid of other countries financially and with moral support ever since I can remember, and a lot of it goes unappreciated, unreciprocated and unacknowledged, but still we give, give, give. We let illegals cross our borders and provide them with jobs, homes, education, and even let them dip into Social Security funds meant for citizens who have worked hard all their lives. We let various ethnic groups look their noses down on us and call us names and fly planes into our buildings, and when we try to defend or protect our country, we are considered the bullies and the bad guys. This is the way we are repaid for our kindness and generosity. So will the real bullies please stand up!

It's not clear what "#1" means - for example, if I were to be born to a poor uneducated family, I'd much rather do it in Sweden or France where i'd be entitled to lifelong free healthcare. If I were to be born non-white I'd probably choose to live in a country which didn't have legal segregation until 40-50 years ago. If I were an entrepreneur with a dream of wealth or an escapee from a poor, backward regime I may well think that the USA is #1. All depends on your perspective.

Being a bully does not mean being number one. From the beginning of time? Are you aware of how long the United States has been a nation? And technically, people are bullies, not countries. In my opinion, Kim Jong Il is a bully, not North Korea.

#1 in what?
Biggest military? Yes.
Biggest economy? No (China passed us).
Best educated? Not by a long shot -- we rank somewhere around 50th in the world.
Highest standard of living? Nope. We're about #10 on that list.
Lowest infant mortality? No.
Best health care? No.
So, we're "#1" in the world militarily, but in no other categories that really matter...that does indeed make us the biggest bully, not the smartest, healthiest, highest paid, or best standard of living.
Try using facts instead of blind patriotism.

what does being number one have to do with being a bully? we are a powerful nation but you don't stay number one when most of the world hates you--it usually means we're in trouble--read your history. oh, and i'm an ex-marine viet nam veteran saying this--don't preach the 'you don't know because you haven't been there' I have.
