RE:
Olive Garden and Call ahead seating?
Why doesn't Olive Garden have call ahead seating? So many other restaurants do. It's really a pain to have to show up and wait when I should be able to call before I leave the house and then the wait time is reduced.
I love the Olive Garden but I hate that in order to go to it, there is...

A lot of places don't have call ahead seating, b/c it's just to damn hard to do.
Say you are coming in with 4 people and you call ahead and ask and are given a table. Doesn't necessarily mean it will be ready when you get there. Most likely it means that another party of four will probably be leaving shortly and that could possibly be your seat. However, it doesn't mean that they will absolutely be done when you arrive; they maybe having coffee or dessert or just sitting and talking. The restaurant can't kick out a table of people, they can sit for as long as they want.
At the same time, someone else who didn't call ahead maybe waiting for that table for an hour. They will get mad that you sat before them, they will probably ask to speak to the manager, etc, etc. The manager at a busy restaurant has enough problems on a crazy Friday/Saturday night, that calming down angry waiting customers is not something they want to deal with.
In addition, say you plan on being there at 6pm and it's 6:02, they will fill your seat, they are not going to wait for you to show up when they have the option of sitting other paying customers there. .

You mean making a reservation? Just like any restaurant. You call, ask for a reservation, they ask how many in your party, and what time, and when you arrive a few minutes before that, you are seated as quickly as possible.

Do yourself a favor and find a real Italian Restaurant that isn't own by a big corporation.
Truse me, you will get real Italian food and they will more than likely take reservations.
Don't know where you live, but I would go here and ask these people for a real non-chain Italian Restaurant.

no they will not take call ahead, you have to go and wait to eat boil in a bag italian meals. My buddy works there, their meals com ein on big trays, and they juts boil them when it is time to serve it to a customer(who is led to belive they are slaving in the kitchen) Enjoy your fake italian food...even though their salads are amazing!

It's called making a reservation. That ensures that you will have a place to sit down and eat at a particular time and place.
