No. Racism is never "innocent". They are both symptoms and cause of a larger problem.

They are generally harmless. Stereotyping and making jokes is a human tendancy (children pick it up without instruction), and in most cases means nothing. There will always be someone who goes too far, but that is unavoidable. The vast majority (in my country, anyway) are not violent racists.

I think people need to be able to laugh at themselves and others. I don't care if anyone says a racial joke about my race or place in life. I think people are getting too touchy and that is what is dividing us even more.
