I have a Belkin wireless router for my laptop and whenever I disconnect the router, the desktop's internet goes down with it. Any help?

Well, what the others have said - just remove the ethernet cable from your router and put it directly into your PC. I usually find it necessary to switch off the modem for 10 seconds and then restart it. Wait 20-30 seconds or so, and then you should be able to resume surfing :)

Look at the wires. A wire comes into your house into a Modem. Another wire goes from your modem to your Router. You might even have a wire from your router to a PC. But you use wireless on your laptop, and it connects in a wireless manner to your laptop. That means that you have broken the connection between your laptop and your router when you turn the router off.

My suggestion: leave the router and modem turned on.

Good luck and Happy Computing!

yeah that should happen since the main internet line goes to the router then the router splits that one connection into two , one to your laptop and one to your desktop. After that you said disconnect the router meaning you just shut off the main internet line

Your router is the central hub that all internet traffic in your house goes through.

The only way around it is to disconnect your desktop from the network and connect it to the net directly.

.
If you have another pc that you want to stay connected to the internet when you disconnect the wireless router;
then you will need an additional router (not wireless)
that you leave ON all the time.

1. You will then have your ISP coming into the modem
2. The standard router1 will connect to the modem
3. The wireless router2 will connect to the router1
4. Other pcs will connect to the router1 ports

Not enough information. It depends on how you have your network set up, whether you have dsl or cable or dial up.

So, just make sure when you disconnect your router that your computer is still connected to your modem.

Dude,

No kidding? Turning off the light switch make the lights go off. What a concept! HAHAHAHA!

Leave your router on! It connects everything in your internal network to your external network. It "routes" from inside to outside and vise-versa.

Tom

Wireless, so simple, even a caveman can do it! (this is mine!)

Well, one sure fire fix is to run a Cat5 ethernet cable from the desktop's RJ-45 ethernet port to one of the router's ethernet switch ports.

That's what's supposed to happen! Don't disconnect it! If you pull your TV's cord from the wall, it goes off. Right? Same concept!

some merely benefit from the flavor and making the girl moan understanding that this is them making her experience a lot exhilaration. That makes some adult men troublesome and some adult men a lifeless ringer for the way women react and what this is like. yet it truly is fairly a lot even as they extremely like someone. some adult men really do it so he can assume her to bypass down on him too.
