Oh boy, we all run into a ton of 'em here don't we? I mean I knew there were some reeeeeealy D U M B people in the world, but until Q & A arrived in our lives, I had no idea there were so many lololol
But, look, ya can't do anything about it. You can't wave a magic wand and turn a dumbo into a brain surgeon. (anybody remember the movie Lawnmower Man?) My theory is that people who say things THAT dumb, have to not be able to help it. I mean, a really smart, intelligent person not only would not, but COULD not say such a thing. I think a lot of times, this person is just trying so hard to "be smart" that he has aaaaaabsolutely no idea how dumb what he said really was. I usually smile to myself and secretly pray that person never gets to realise how idiotic what he said was, because if he ever did, he'd probably want to go up to the roof of the nearest tall building and jump off LOL

Well, lets back up just a second. First, everybody is entitled to their opinion regardless of how misinformed it may be. Asking questions is not a sign of being stupid. It is a sign that the person is trying to understand. We all come from different backgrounds and have different experiences which shapes the way that we view the world. So if you hear a person ask a question it is your opportunity to speak up and provide the person with some of your experiences and knowledge. This can be done without a condescending tone and the other person will be better for it. I would also ask you for your source of information so that I would be able to follow up to obtain additional information.

Oh, you're not the only one, as all of the other answers have shown...I hate stupid people, too. And I'm surrounded by them. I define stupidity as having the resources and mental faculties to learn something new, but choosing to remain ignorant yet pretending to know everything there is to know.

A good example is my father-in-law. Like everyone, he's got access to a computer, hence he has a world of knowledge at his fingertips, just waiting to be discovered. He doesn't suffer a mental disability, as he has an average IQ. He does choose to not learn about new things and insists he's the end all and be all on every topic, including and especially things he knows nothing about. When he visits, I have to stifle the urge to tell him to do his homework before challenging me on topics like cats, religion, history, mythology, psychology and literature. I'll be the first to admit that I don't know everything there is to know about these things, but I never stop trying to learn about them. As such, I know more about these topics than the average person. But my father-in-law will pull the old "well I'm older than you, so I know more than you on any topic" BS.

A stupid person will claim that he knows everything, even when it's obvious he doesn't. In doing so, he shows his idiocy. An intelligent person will readily admit that there are things he doesn't know and then go ask someone who does know.

No, you are not, and what's amazing is that there are so MANY of them! Sometimes I wonder how I'm going to survive financially, and then I see these dorks working at the mall, on Yahoo Idiots, etc just stupidly going through life not worrying about a thing. This is me at Pizza Hut last week:

Me: How big is a medium pizza? (They didn't show or list any sizes).
Idiot: Hold on, we're talking
Me: Oh, so the customer comes second.
I: What now?
M: How big is a medium pizza?
I: $15.
M: Oh, ok, and how much does it cost?
I: Whaaaaa?
M: I said how big is a medium pizza?
I: Oh, we can't tell you that.
M: Is it classified?
I: Whaaaaa?
M: Is this the first time someone has asked this question?
I: Yea.
M: OK, good.

You are not alone. I feel the same way you do. One thing I do though, is I turn the things they say around to make them realize they have said something stupid. It's the only way to catch them.

The Word says that wise people suffer fools gladly.
My Dad was German, and he had no tolerance for
stupidity. And I'm afraid I don't suffer fools gladly
either. But I'm working on it!

Yes, I can't stand people who are purposely stupid. You just have to deal with them on their own level because their certainly never going to get to your level, you don't want them there anyway.

I don't mind stupid people but truly dislike those that pretend to be stupid to impress their peers or others. This drives me absolutely bonkers!
