well Fedex has several differnet companies
you got Fedex Express , then there is Fedex freight,
fedex custom critical
then we have Fedex ground (they usually use self-contractors)
as for Fedex ground I belive they tried to use contractors(self-employed)
but have been sued and a lot of courts have decided that ground
deliver personal are really employees of Fedex..
I think thats still being appeal..
then there is also Fedex Kinkos (thats the company I work for)

Hi Laura my name is scott, i'm sorry but i do not have the answer to that one but was interested in your question as i am a self employed owner driver courier. I have only reciently started up and i'm finding it really difficult to find decent work. I am really new to this and after being promised plenty of work with a courier agency i've now realised how badly ripped off i have been! i've spent a fortune on a van, git, insurance and other stuff. Would you be able to give me any advice. You can contact me on englandscottred@yahoo.co.uk
Thanks Scott.

I used to work for FedEx and the couriers for FedEx Express were employees of FedEx, the couriers for FedEx Ground were independent contractors.
