Do you shake like you would with another man, or do you do that weird limp-wristed thing? Is this disrespecting the woman, like you think she's too feeble to shake hands normally? I've always wondered about this.

Okay, I guess the picture is too small to see clearly. I'm not asking for advice. I'm a woman. I'm asking why some men do the weird limp-wristed thing when they shake hands with a woman.

Yes, you would. And just for the record it was a woman that tought me to properly shake a hand without the limp-wrist. The handshake should be firm but not hard or crushing. Now if it is a woman that you like you can cover her hand with your other. But this should not be used for business encounters. I hope this website will help explain it better.

Ive always just shook the woman's hand like i would a mans just not quite as firm. don't do the limp-wristed thing because believe it or not women get offended by that as much as men do.
well since you are a woman the only thing i can suggest is that most men from a young age are taught that women are much weaker than men physically though this may or may not be true in some cases.... :) it all comes back to what society has made the norm for the youth of the world.

I think this could go either way depending on the setting(ie; colleagues vs. potential beau) In this day I think it best as the woman to lead the way here. I myself, am a business woman and at work I shake a lot of hands. I expect a firm grip and in return give just that. However, if I was meeting a man over a different intent, let's just say it is nice to be treated like a lady.

As a woman I put a lot of value in a firm handshake. Problem is most men do not know the difference between a firm handshake and a strong/ tight hand shake. You are not trying to crush the other person's hand. Your hand should be stiff and firm but not rough like you are trying to arm wrestle the other person. I also find that when men shake my hand they tend to grab my fingers instead of my hand and of course, that HURTS!! Make sure you have her hand not her fingers!!!

Ok, I am not a man, but when I shake anyone's hand I always give a firm grip, if a man hands me a limp noodle to shake, it is such a turn off. It's like, man, what else is limp? Know what I mean?! LOL

We have been taught that interaction with the opposite gender (unless required) is forbidden. In your case arm wrestling is not a necessity and as such constituents as haraam. Personally if you were my sister, i wouldn't want you to 'play' with boys like that. Remember, that boys natural instincts tell them to think all sorts when next to women. And that women are the greatest downfall of men. So when you're just 'casually playing' with boys, then trust me, there not thinking the right things in their head.

I always try to give a firm handshake but not like I'm trying to break her hand. But I do that with men as well. I would say it's best to treat everyone the same.

If she offers her hand, shake it normally. If she doesn't offer her hand don't offer yours.
