You Can't Change It! But In Some Cases They Will Change It For You. Like If They Make A Mistake And Give Yours To Someone Else That Has Came To Your Country from some other country!

The Social Security Administration can help you, depending on why you want to change it. If you think (or know) that your number has been compromised (stolen) by someone who will or is using it fraudulently, then tell them RIGHT AWAY (and of course, tell the police as well).

However, don't waste anyone's time (including your own) if you want to change it for frivolous reasons.

The only way that ever happens is if you go into the witness Protection program, and they'll assign you a new identity from the ground up. Other then that it's fixed and there is no way you can change it.

Why would you want to anyways?

I believe you can change it in situations of identity theft or abusive spouse, but not certain. You can call SS office at 800-772-1213.

I'm not sure why you would want to, since all your earnings and "work credits" would be attached to your current number. But contact the SSA atwww.socialsecurity.gov
