Call sprint cust service. ***MAKE SURE THAT UR CALLING FROM A PHONE OTHER THAN THE PHONE THAT U FOUND,and make sure the battery is charged..u gotta do this coz information is needed on that phone wherein u gotta take out the back cover and the battery*** tell them that u want to assign ur number to a phone/handset that u found.
just to set ur expectations, there's no guarantee that the phone u found can be activated with ur number. there r two reasons, the phone might not be a compatible under the sprint network, second is that even if its a sprint phone, it might still be attached or assigned to someone else's account and cannot be activated.
if u r told that it can be activated, then just tell the rep that u wanna go ahead and transfer ur mobile number to that phone. u will be given instructions to program ur number on that phone. u will not be able to use that phone for 4 hours, itll take 2 hours for voice and 4hours for data service to be switched over. ur voicemail will also be switched over to that phone.
If and when this is done, the mobile number on ur previous phone will be unassigned or deactivated and u can assign a new number on that handset, meaning u can have ur friend activate his number on ur previous phone.

What's wrong with you? What if that phone belonged to someone who desperately needed it for emergency's? If i were then i would take it to the police station or at least report it to the police station. Just tell them where you found the phone and what it looks like. They'll ask you to bring it in, and believe it or not if it isn't reported missing within the next day or so then it's your's. The chances of someone reporting their missing phone are slim, and if and when you get it you'll feel more content with yourself and like you're a much better person. Once my best friend, Ali found 500 dollars on the ground in a parking lot and she reported it and the police station said that it was her's to keep. Without even showing them the bill. So do the right thing and turn it in. Sorry that i didn't really answer your question right away, but once the phone is underneath your own claim that is when you can change it. But you have to take it to the companies store or shop..like a razor place in the mall or something...and they'll fix it all up for you. It costs money though...but they're isn't a way to change it on your own.
If i had your luck i would probably be the happiest person alive, but just think about it. If you dropped your ugly sprint plan cell (I have one too and i know how much they suck) and it actually meant something to you then would'nt you want someone to turn it in missing? I know i would...except not exactly with that particular phone.
Anyway have fun with your razr. Be a good person though!

The right thing to do is probably calling a few numbers in the phone book and asking who it belongs to. Explain the matter and they will understand. Also, you could take it to the Sprint store and have a lookup on who's registered to it.
If you really have tried to find an owner and couldn't find one, you might have to use that one with the phone number already registered. You could ask someone at the Sprint store, though, and maybe they will help you with your problem.
Good luck!
Happy New Year!

why not get the number from the razor and call it and give it back to the owner? more than likely the phone is reported stolen and service has been canceled. if you try to use the phone and it has been deactivated because it was lost or stolen you might be held responsible. i would return it to the owner, you don't want to be accused of stealing.

well, the right thing to do would be to try and return it to owner by calling a few numbers in the phone book.
However, if you do want to keep it, try taking it to one of those small, shady-looking cell phone places. They might be able to help.

Have you considered locating the owner and returning it? It is not difficult to do. Simply check the "contact list" and see if there is a listing for home, mom, dad, sis, etc. With a call or two, you could find the owner who would probably appreciate your efforts.
I would hope someone would do the same for you if you lost your phone.

Call Sprint, you may not be able to use the Razr. Most Razr's come w/ a "sim" card, while the Sprint phone's don't. So this is the issue.

I would return the phone to a local dealer of the cellular phone company, that way they can contact the person that lost the phone.
