I am not sure, but I would think somewhere in England. My hubbys boss is from England, and every time I see him, he always kisses my hand! He is such a gentleman and one of the greatest bosses my hubby has ever had, even my kids love him! I guess that is why I think that is where the custom came from, it is nice to see that some people still do it!

because in ancient times there was no toothpaste or mouthwash and most women's teeth were rotting out of their mouths so the hand was the safest and most sanitary place to kiss them.
