I, too hate ebay's fees. Per their rules, I don't place the little ad, "I take paypal", cuz ebay says I have to take credit cards (CC), and upgrade my account to do so. So I run my item for auction and if the customer asks, I will tell them "sure I'll take regular paypal, no CCs",. If your customer is smart, they'll work with you, and send the payment through paypal, the old way, to your account, no CC. I had one bonehead, ask, then send me the funds with the CC. I rejected the funds, and had them sent the right way, fee free.

Maybe not what you are asking but there is another round of spoof PayPal emails circulating that try to get you to enter your credit card data. Don't do it. Forward the email to spoof@paypal.com and then delete it.
I just received another one this morning and they look absolutely authentic.
