I believe John Lennon was way ahead of his time, maybe an angel of sorts. If he were still alive today, this world would probably be better for it. However, I do know that when your number is up, it is up. If I told John Lennon what was about to happen and even if he did change his plan, it would still happen somewhere else at some other time. We only have so much control over what happens to us. There is a certain amount of fate that plays a part in everyone's life. As far as telling George about the tobacco, I don't even know if he would have stopped. People know all about the dangers of tobacco today and they continue smoking anyways. I do appreciate your insightful question though.

George knew about the dangers of tobacco the same as any other literate person in 20th century western world. John knew NYC was a dangerous place. Fate is a *****.

I have found this idea in my head: That if things are meant to happen, they'll find a way, maybe if John hadn't been shot in nyc, he might have been killed by some other psycho elsewhere. But it is indeed a nice thought, to believe you could change things to make them better today.

I'm sure plenty of people warned George about smoking, so what good would another have done. rather then warn John, though, it would have been more prudent to alert the police to the armed man waiting at the Dakota and let them pick him up before he did his damage.
