this question is not to offend women but why is it that some women are not natural.
whether it be that they don't grow their hair naturally, they change their hair color or even having make up, they aren't as natural as they use to be.

Could it be the male gender's fault for imposing on these qualities?

Men pretty much ignore you if you don't look like you put out some effort on your appearance... natural hair and no makeup, they think you don't take any pride in your appearance. OTOH, women get catty about you. If you don't look "right" they make fun of you. If you look better than they do, they dislike you outright. So, I place the blame on both genders.

I once had a boss, a female 8 years my junior, tell me to put on some makeup when I went home for lunch, because she wanted me to be "presentable". According to her, some customers (all older ladies) had complained that I was not made up and did not "look nice". I was working in a freakin greenhouse and it was 110F, NO one looks nice when it's that hot and humid. The other boss, a man, thought it was stupid to expect me to try to look like a makeup counter attendant given the nature of the job. If I were a man, no one would have said a thing about it.

Little wonder 90% of my friends are male.

I wonder about that myself...men aren't to blame it's the women that feel the need to hide behind the extras. Women should be more natural...it's a heck of a lot easier then keeping up with root touch ups, trips to the salon or spa for a full set or fill. I'm all for natural if I coul get away with it. I do not wear artificial hair or nails but I often arch my eyebrows and wear lip gloss just to give myself a fresh look .

Try looking at some of the magazines out there and you'll see why woman do everything in their power to change their appearance. Some of the magazines contain pictures of beautifully made up women and are full of advice columns on how to "look your best." I don't think that men deserve as much blame as they get for this one, even though some like the fake look. And some women are fairly natural looking. I don't dye my hair or wear ridiculous amounts of makeup, but a little primping never hurt (for guys or girls).

Society poses strict beauty standards on American women and we feel the need to conform to what society says is beautiful. I straighten my hair but wear it natural a lot of times because I think it's pretty as well. I only wear makeup for professional jobs, special occasions or interviews. I don't think it's necessarily the male gender's fault but they did contribute to this but it's women that are so obsessed with looking perfect.

Im still here, yes its the mans fault for ignoring women like me who wake up looking the same way as I did when I went to bed. Men want these women who have 20 layers of makeup and hair product. .

I don't think it's so much male imposition as much as it is the woman herself. Women who do those kind of things tend to either A) not believe in themselves, B) are very intuned to what others(both men and women) around them think, or C) are heavily influenced by the media. I definitely agree with you in that it can go too far- a woman who wears too much make-up can look like a circus clown, or the wrong hair color can look like a punk rocker. And those looks aren't necessarily attractive to look at. They can be a turn-off.

They exist. Women have to be very strong in the U.S. to not fall for all the hype about looks, make-up and all that. If they grow up with it it seems "normal" to them.
As a man, you have these issues as well, they're just different and you probably don't know what they are because whatever you are doing seems normal to YOU.
We all, as human beings, stop being authentic in little ways, for the job, for the friend, for the parents, until we wonder who we are. Afraid to speak our minds or do what we would really like to do because of what others might think of us if we did.
If we could all remember what we thought and felt as little children, and could rebuild ourselves from there, maybe we could all be more authentic?

We're out here. Hang out at Whole Foods, hippie music concerts, artsy districts... you'll find us. I've never had a manicure and I cut my own hair. I do shave my legs but I might let the pits go (I am almost 1/2 French lol). The only toiletries in my purse are hand cream and lip balm.

It is not the male gender's fault, but if you would insist that women look more natural, they would.
Unfortunately, the media has a strong pull.

well itz about the competition among each other for the girls. they all want to look good and ofcourse itz all for you guys out there. some of them also want acceptance according the fashions and styles out there. for instance at one time thin lips were known to b ok and big thick lips now r a hit. and also the booty is in now so they even came up w/jeans and a little sumthing to put in the pants for the booty look and ofcourse like the padded and push up bras for more cleavage. And the ones who have curly hair go straight according to fashion and ones who have straight do wutever they can do...etc. itz just so much women think about and do just to be accepted and be "up to date" rather than just by clothes. Sum women they just like change they do it for themselves but i know wut u mean by the not natural chick. Sum women actually need make up to cover up a pimple or blemeshes etc. Itz just all about looking good and being "fit" for the society.
