This is not a war, what exactly is the job of our military in Iraq? To topple Saddam, that's done and that's the stated reason for being there. Should our President be making it the responsibility of our military for his short-sighted planning as to the after effects of his stated goal.

The military's job is to kill people. So, if we let them kill people, that solves the problem in Iraq.
Iraq has reached the same point as Vietnam. It's a finger pointing game as to why it's such a mess. You're right in one respect. The military's job is over. Civil law and order was never in Bush's plans for post-Saddam Iraq.

Pretty simple, really.

1. Give the military a clear, achievable goal.

2. Give them the resources (weapons, personnel, money, etc.) necessary to achieve the goal.

3. Get the hell out of the way.

It means stop making disparaging remarks about the troops like the ones you just made because they work better without that. I have been watching Sean in Iraq on Fox News and he is interviewing troops about those kind of remarks. You should hear their responses.

Let the military do their job means just this.

Complete objective 1 - remove the enemy government.

Objective 2 - secure the country (not quite done yet)

Objective 3 - support newly elected government (training Iraqis to control their own country and destinies).

Objective 4 - When all previous objectives are complete, pack up and return home.

I though this would be pretty clear to anyone!

The job of US military is not to topple Saddam nor to find the weapons of mass destruction they were there to capture the oil fields......now US troops are being killed but G.W.Bush gives more importance to the oil insted of the blood of his troops.

iraq is a key point in the war on radical islamn and terrorism. we need to stop holding our troops back and let them kill those who are trying to kill them and us, and the people who want a free iraq. the terrorist over there do not want a free iraq, that means to them that they are losing there strangle hold on the people who yearn to be free. We need to stop second guessing how the troops react and put ourselves in there shoes. If you are getting fired on are you going to have a thirty minute debate with yourself on wether you should return fire?

We are in a can't stay, can't leave situation. If we leave Iraq in a mess, the court of world opininon will judge more harshly than we are being judged for staying, trying to keep the peace, and rebuilding.
