I found that when I painted my nails, and then used a disgusting tasting nail varnish - I stopped very quickly. These are available from all leading pharmacys etc. I tried using a fake manicure (cheap ones from boots because I play the piano and you need to remove them) and I found, that I still went to bite them, but that just didn't get very far with removing the nail. Instead, it came off, and i would bite that nail (it being the only one i could). Personally, try painting and using that varnish on the top. That works - haven't biten my nails for a few months now! Yay!

The more you think about it, the more you will end up doing it. Don't stress about it. And instantly become, in your mind, a person who keeps their hands always in their lap or by their side. Think "I keep my hands at my sides or in my lap at all times" rather than "I don't bite my nails." Your subconscious will not see negatives. So if you say "I don't bite my nails" you will always bite them. If you say "I don't spend a lot of money" you will. However, if you say "I am conservative with money" or "I keep my hands in my lap/side at all times" that will become true. Learn to keep your mind on happy things. Go out to the movies, do fun stuff, enjoy life. Stress is responsible for keeping habits, so the minute you are stressing about it, change your thoughts. Good luck.

I bit my nails as a kid until I got braces. At that point, the brackets and wires on my teeth prevented me from placing the nail into the correct position to be able to chew on them. But if braces are not in your immediate future, you could try keeping them trimmed very short. You'll then have nothing to chew on, and so the habit should disappear.

Well, at some drugstores they have this like, nail polish that is clear. So, you put it on your nails and when you bite your nails, it has a bad taste. For some people this works.

Just stop biting them.
Thats what I did.

Oh yea, the nail polish that tastes yucky doesn't really work, because when you eat food it gets on it and your food gets yucky too.

I was a HORRIBLE nail biter! I stopped by keeping my nails manicured. I found that if I kept my nails polished and presentable, it helped my to keep from biting them.\

Good luck!

try sucking on a sucker or chewing gum when you feel the urge to bit your nails. My uncle used this method to quit smoking. he hasn't smoked for 5 years.
