I would hope to live to get the chance, although I am certain it would be bad.

Einstein said of world war 3 "the survivors will envy the dead."
I have spent some time in the areas contaminated by the neuclear accident at Chornobyl in 1986. Did you know that human birth defects from that accident are expected to last for 100 generations? I saw a deformed cat - very friendly to the few who would pet him/her. I heard lots of horror stories. I watched a friend dying.
Even so, I would want to live on after a nuclear war. Such is the love of life that I would want to try to help life continue.

It depends on a lot of factors. How close am I to a strike? Just close enough not to die quickly, but to die slowly from my injuries or radiation poisoning? I used to live in a city that is a first strike red zone. I worked on a government installation just outside this city and this question was pondered from time to time by many of us who worked there. Most of the people said, including myself, that if it was going to happen I hope I'm standing right on top of it, because I don't want to experience the aftermath. It's a broad question with a lot of different angles.

No, but fortunately I probably wouldn't; I live near enough to a major city that I'd probably be vaporized, and never know what hit me.
