Tapping down the left analog joystick is considered "L3".

well in order to press the L3 button you need to push in the left analog stick until you hear a click. and in case you ever need to press R3 press the right analog stick in until you hear a click. it's the same for the ps3.

L3 is the left analog stick, to "press it" you just push it down.
also for future reference: R3 is the right analog stick, you push it the same way
