Start with great content. People will advertise in your ebook if they know that it is the type that will attract droves of people to download the ebook - and that will happen if you have great content.
Prepare a media kit for advertisers, explaining the demographics you are reaching with your ebook, metrics to judge the performance of your ebook (e.g. how many downloads a month, press releases, press mentions, blog mentions, testimonials). Of course, include the various types of advertising spaces available and your rate.
I suggest you study ebooks that accept advertisers. You can even pretend to be an interested advertiser, and get a copy of their media kit (if none, at least their rates).

Go where the people are that will buy your ebook. I would guess that your ebook fills a need. Go where the people are that have that need.
Pay Per Click advertising is a great way to target specific niches.
You might also want to consider setting up an affiliate program and getting others to promote it for you.

Well, first of all, think about what type of book it is. Different stores will want to be in different genres of books. Think of different stores in that area that may be related and draw up a flyer or proposal letter to those business. Set a basic price for an ad size and offer to sell the spots to these businesses. You might want to offer 1/4 page, 1/2 page, and whole page prices and introduce it to the company. Contact the marketing department of these businesses, give them an overveiw of the book, even offer them a sample if they would like to see it. Tell them where it's going to be posted, and then offer them ad space on the e-book.

Depending on your ebook content you could visit related forums and post an advert in the relevant forum category.
You could search for ebook websites, and email the website owner to offer ad space or a discounted rate for an ad.
You could search for websites with related content and again contact the webmaster to ask if they would like an ad.
Basically just search for anything with related content and contact the webmasters.
