Dog the Bounty Hunter is a reality television show, chronicling Duane "Dog" Chapman's operations in his bounty hunting firm, Da Kine Bail Bonds in Honolulu, Hawaii. Dog is joined in his exploits by his wife and business partner, Beth Smith Chapman, his sons Leland and Duane Lee, and Tim Chapman (not related)[1]. His nephew Justin Bihag also appeared during the first season. Besides Hawaii, newer episodes have included cases in Dog Chapman's home state of Colorado and the city of San Francisco. Most episodes have been filmed in the city of Honolulu. He claims to have captured over 6,000 bail jumpers and criminals.

While the program mostly follows Chapman and his team's pursuits against actual criminals who violated the conditions of their bail, it also shows his life as a husband, a father to some of his twelve children and an ex-convict. Chapman and Smith were married on May 20, 2006. Dog's compassionate side is frequently on display, as he looks for ways to coach his catches back to the right path.

The program spun off from their appearance in the A&E Network's Take This Job, a program about people with unusual occupations. Both shows are produced for A&E by Hybrid Films, a New York-based production company.

Their bail bond business, Da Kine Bail Bonds, has locations on the islands of Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island. The Oahu office is located at 1383 Queen Emma St. in Honolulu.

It's Dog the Bounty Hunter, not bountiful. Anyway, he went to Mexico and picked up some low life. Apparently the Mexican authorities have a law against bounty hunting. So Dog and his posse were tossed in the can. He is also a convicted felon. If you notice on his show he doesn't use a firearm. That's why. Bounty hunting is hard, dangerous work. You have to really want to do it.

Dog the bounty hunter has had his share of experiences on both sides of the law.

Now trying to take what he has learned from the experience and capture the other lawbreakers and make income for family while helping others better their lives.

There has been a circumstance where he and his sons chased a fugitive from the states into Mexico and ended up being imprisoned themselves while the fugitive lied his way free.

Am sure details are probably on their site.

No - personally would not like to join the team but do appreciate the service they offer!

I like watching Dog,he's a crazy man. He was in prison before that's why he can't carry a gun. Yes he was in jail last year for bounty hunting a person where it wasn't legal. No way would I want to be on his team. Support him yes. Jump in there with him NO!

He was in prison before he became a bounty hunter. And him and most of his crew were arrested by Mexican police earlier this year. He was in Mexico to arrest a serial rapist. I think bounty hunting is illegal down there.

He was in jail in this past summer for bringing back a rapist from Mexico. Mexico does not reconize bounty hunting and put out a warrant for dog for kidnapping this guy. He was in jail in the past for either murder or attempted murder, I do believe.

He was on the run himself, and a bounty hunter caught up with him. Kinda ironic isn't it? Don't remember the charge, but it was a misdemeanor.

They had taking him to jail in Mexico I believe it was, because he was chasing this person that had cross the border of Mexico. Since he had crossed that border too and catched another guy in a forbidden country they took him for a few days, but everything came clear at the end and they let him go
