The foundation of intellectual learning with Socrates, Plato and the like, architecture that astounds even till this day. The ruins will amaze and leave a print on your soul. The most beautiful beaches and the people are kind and friendly, the food is terrific. Modern Greece has virtually none. It became independent from the Turks only in the 19th century, and is mainly a tourist attraction for fans of ancient architecture. The only real legacy is the successful war for independence and preservation of artifacts.
