It depends on where you get it. If you go to a petstore they will probably cost way more than if you go to a breeder. I would suggest to look it up on the internet or go to adopt a pet.com. Well, hope that helps!

$100-150 is average, but ferrets do better in pairs than singles. There are also many adoption organizations that rescue ferrets, so you can provide a fuzzy with a great new home.

Really be sure you want one. They are about 100 dollars or free to good homes in the paper. No matter what anyone tells you, they stink. If you are bothered by smells, or have kids you dont want to smell of ferret at school, reconsider. The pet stores will tell you they are descented and you can wash them. This is all true but the musky smell is THERE and your home will smell like ferret. Just my 2 cents. Oh, and they don't have little poo like a guinea pig, but messy wet poo like a puppy.

Be sure to check if its legal to own one in your state before purchasing one. The price is also going to vary depending where you get it - a breeder, a pet store, a friend or relative... a good idea would be to borrow a library book on owning and caring for a ferret before you plan to buy one, just to make sure its something you really want to get and you know in advance what to expect.

I bought 1 about 4 years ago in the uk for £10 from a breader advertising in a petshop so most of the prices quoted here seem verry high to me.
