You've gotten some great answers here. You may be one of those "all of me" or nothing people - you don't want to appear weak or distracted. BUT
Job interviews are important. It's likely a hiring decision will be made tomorrow. So seriously consider the risk of not being considered before you "cancel due to illness".
A few hints:
1)Up your intake of water.
2)Stay away from caffeine, sodas and fatty foods.
3)Take your medication consistently. Now isn't the time to try something new or alter the dosage instructions. But do not mix meds - no aspirin & fever reducing over-the-counter stuff together.
4) Sleep! If you can manage it, sleep more today and go to bed early tonight.
5)Depending on how long you have had the sore throat and its' intensity, you may need to see a doctor if you are still sick by Wed. Strep throat will not go away on its' own..
Good luck....

Rescheduling is better but make sure you do it the right way. Call immediately if you know you need to reschedule job interview, preferably before the day of your interview - it is inappropriate and inconsiderate to call on the day itself. Speak directly to your interviewer. Most of the time, employers inform you of the person who will talk to you in the interview. Answering machines or leaving messages are a no-no - they're not only unprofessional, but you risk not having them delivered and keep people waiting. Apologize and be polite when on the phone with the interviewer, and explain why to reschedule job interview. Request to reschedule your interview on a date that you sure you can be present, and if the interviewer agrees to it. Once a date is set, always thank the interviewer sincerely for giving you another shot at getting the job. Once you have a reschedule job interview, show your appreciation to your prospective employer by calling in to confirm that you will be up and about during the interview. This helps diminish thoughts of insincerity and unreliability from you. On the day of your rescheduled interview, be sure to apologize again and show all ways of courtesy.

Because it is not an interview in person, you don't have to worry about passing on your illness, so that's a plus. However, think about this - do you have a fever or headache that might make you feel not quite "on the ball"? Is your cough extremely distracting? If so, then you should reschedule, definitely, or you won't be giving your best answers. If it is just an annoying cough but your concentration is going to be okay, I would say go through with the interview but apologise up front for your cough (to make them aware of it). You don't have to go into detail, just let them know that you have a cough and say "Excuse me" when you do cough (if you have a coughing jag; if it's just a small throat-clearing sound then don't worry about it).

Forget nervous If you got this far you have what it takes. DO NOT RESCHEDULE! At the level you are trying for nothing short of hospitalization should stop a phone interview. Take over the counter medications that will not leave you drowsy or goofy. I own a small business and interviews make or break careers!

I think an employer would look more favorably on a person who is willing to "tough it out" than call up to reschedule a telephone interview. The only way it would make sense to reschedule the telephone interview would be if you were vomiting.
Load up on some daytime meds. When you get on the phone, if your voice sounds scratchy or funny, just apologize and let them know you have a mild cold.

No way. Its a phone interview.
Make a pot of coffee, take some cold medicine an hour before with tylenol in it to fight the headache. Use some nasal spray as well.
Everyone gets sick, if they mention it find the humor in it and just say you're fighting a cold - leave it at that! You want the job; do not reschedule!
Make sure you don't whine, go on about it, give them details or anything at all. They probably won't mention it - just sip at the coffee [or hot drink] to relieve the soreness and keep yourself awake!

I would just strap up with some daytime cold medicine, some hot tea and some cough drops and do the interview. It's a phone interview, so you don't have to worry about looking ill. Good luck!

Definitely not, because a) it is a top executive in the company and b) it is only over the phone, so you are not going to infect anyone. Simply apologize in advance that you are ill, and say it was important to you to keep your scheduled time, since you know how busy s/he must be.

NO. Explain at the beginning of the interview that you are under the weather. But suck it up if you really want the job
