It will be hard to find a non-64 bit system. Almost all processors are 64-bit today. The question is if you want to run 64-bit windows (you can run 32 or 64-bit versions of windows on 64-bit hardware). Right now getting 64-bit windows isn't really necessary because there is not that much software that makes use of it (and if you that software is 64-bit you will probably already know it).
There are also problems with running 64-bit Windows in that you need all new drivers for your hardware, which are becoming more easy to find but are still a little rare. The advantage is 64-bit Windows is much more secure then 32-bit.
So buy a 64-bit hardware but go with 32-bit windows and then you can upgrade to 64-bit when it becomes more ubiquitous. But to answer your question, yes 64-bit is the way of the future.

Hey Dude,
How many 16 bit computers (DOS and windows 95) do you see around anymore?
64 bit computers are the computers for NOW, not the future. I see 64 bit computing being around for at least the next 5-8 years.
DO NOT buy it yet, unless you are forced to. Buying a 64 bit version of an OS right now is like purchasing a hybrid car 10 years ago. Overpriced and full of problems! Unless you are willing to suffer through all the crap, stay with the proven systems.

64 bit PCs are faster compared to their previous versions of 32 bit PCs resulting to which they can load Windows Vista or any latest developed software without any problem.
Well.. I cant say that they are the computers of the future or not coz with the change in technology every year, every month, every day, every hour and every minute.. may be every second i feel its quite hard for anyone to predict which computer will be finally the computer of the future.
For this moment, a computer with a 64 bit PC can just be defined as the best for the moment
