I decided to tell him the truth by saying that nobody has ever landed on the moon - especially Americans! Have I done the right thing? Or should I keep letting him believe in these things including the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus?

I just want to do my best for him.

Has anyone on here worked it out that I was joking? Of course I tell my son that there is a santa, a tooth fairy and that Americans have landed on the moon. I am a great parent. I also have a sense of humour.

Twelve men have walked on the moon:
Neil Armstrong
Buzz Aldrin
Pete Conrad
Al Bean
Alan Shepard
Ed Mitchell
Dave Scott
Jim Irwin
John Young
Charlie Duke
Gene Cernan
and
Jack Schmitt

Nine more have orbited the moon:
Frank Borman
Jim Lovell
Bill Anders
Mike Collins
Dick Gordon
Stu Roosa
Al Worden
Ken Mattingly
and
Ron Evans

Jack Swigert and Fred Haise looped around the far side of the moon (with Jim Lovell) without landing or going into orbit.

All available evidence supports this claim MUCH more strongly than it does the hypothesis that the whole thing was faked.

Why do *you* believe the latter?

you shouldn't have...
now make up for it by telling your son that the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus landed on the moon.

There were 12 men on the moon so far (men only!).
Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17 transported each 2 men to the surface of moon. The ferry of Apollo 13 should have landed, too, but as you know they had an accident.

Well, you didn't tell him the truth. Americans were the FIRST to land on the moon. Landing on the moon does not quite rank up there with Santa, Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

Americans have landed on the moon! We were the first recorded landing. You need to stop believing in commercials and the internet.Let him believe in the tooth fairy and Santa he will grow out of it. Let him be the kid that he is and do this by letting him believe what he wants.

How do you know that's the truth? Let him go on the NASA web site and see for himself. Santa and the Tooth Fairy are fables that every kid 5yrs old should believe in. Man on the moon is science. Yes we did go to the moon, several times and we are going back in the year 2020. In order to get to Mars, we have to go back to the Moon first.

You have a funny idea of "truth."
There is a huge body of evidence showing 12 Americans *did* land on the moon, and return.
There is *no* evidence that shows they did not.
All of the "proof" on the internet is patently ridiculous, amateurish conspiracy theories, and none of it stands up to even a cursory examination. So apparently you'll believe things for which there is no evidence -- not a very good way to distinguish "truth" from fiction.

Neil Armstrong landed on the moon on Sunday, July 20, 1969 at about 9:00 PM EST. He said, "this is one small step for man and one giant step for mankind." Became a famous quote.

Actually the moon itself is a NASA hoax. Also the Earth is flat and Elvis is alive and well, working in a donut shop in Cleveland.
