last 6 months my question is that we have not yet really told anyone of our relationship just a few close people. we have been out a couple of times in public and kind of found ourselves feeling uncomfortable. i am not really sure if he wants it to be known widely. we are from the same town and by all accounts his mother would go mad if he was seeing a separated mother of 2. he is 7 years older than me. i dont want him to have to put up with crap from his mother i suppose i just want it outed but am afraid of the consequences. and i am also fearful of how he feels. like does he think its a bit of fun i mean he has said he wants kids. so i am unsure of whether he should just go and find a single girl he is 42. i am feeling insecure i suppose and any advice would be appreciated.

I cannot get a divorce in Eire right now. Here you have to be legally separated for 4 of the last 5 years (unfortunately)! but as soon as I can I will.

Who gives a hoot what his mother thinks we are talking about a 42 year old man. There is nothing wrong with you and maybe that's why he is 42 and has no solid relationship. Tell him to cut the umbilical cord and start living his life without his mother being involved.

If he cares for you he should not care what anyone else thinks...his mother will have to learn to like you....there are a lot of people out there that are single parents with kids...its is not like it was 50 yrs ago_

Sounds like the two of you need to work on communication before you send out the memo about your relationship. Talk with him about your feelings. Generally when a guy is seeing a female and doesn't tell people about it, its for a reason. You might just be his little fling. Good luck.

A 42 yr. old man should not be concerned about what his mother
thinks about this situation..
Sounds like a very immature, insecure momma's boy...
Find a real man...

My advice, is you both sound very immature. You need to get a divorce and stop thinking about what his mother would think, instead think about your children. They need a mom focused on them and not on her 42 year old momma's boy.

It's 2007 for god's sake. You're separated, he's single...what's the problem?? He's 42...if his mother's opinion is that important then there's your problem!
