The problem with Zombie fils is that they are either made by reasonably small independant film companies and have a lot of rather gross, unreal looking special effects yet manage to put a rather good story behind it, or by rich production companies who can afford lots of great make up and special effects but very often fail to get a good story and script....
I ave a theory as to why the greatest periods for zombie film making were in the late 1970s and the last few years; its all about paranoia: In the late 1970's and early 1980s, the world was threatened by war between communism and he capitalist world. The american politicians were terrified of communist sympathisers living in their country and the whole 'reds under the beds' paranoia was rampant in the country; your neighbour could be a communist spy and be responsible for the forthcoming nucular holocaust....
Now since the 9/11bombings there has been a rise in fear of the sleeper cell, the terrorist could be your teacher, taxi driver or waiter, your neighbour or friend; only waiting for the right time to destroy you.... just like a zombie, one minute he's working at the supermarket, the next he's eating your brains....

Zombie movies, like other horror films like Friday the 13th and the Halloween movies feature what I call the unreasoning killer. After a while, the unrelenting killing just gets boring. And if you've seen one zombie flik, you've pretty much have seen them all - at least Shaun of the Dead had some humor to it.
Mavbe Rob Zombie should do a zombie movie. His House of 1000 Corpses was amazing. Just when you think things couldn't get much worse, they get much worse.

Because they no longer know how to make good horror movies in general no just about zombies, any monsters, things you can imagine. I have found out that Australians are making lately good movies. I saw "Undead" a mixture of zombies and aliens which was amazing!! Very original movie. The other one I saw which was a bit bizarre but excellent is an irish film with zombies, Irish people become zombies due to mad cow disease, hahaha, though the plot is not that convincing, the movie is very good is called "Dead Meat". The third one I can recommend you to watch about zombies is James Van deer beek´s "The Plague" you got kids turned into zombies killing adults.
Undead:

Dead Meat:
