I live in London and before the erection of the Thames Barrier, they used to test a siren every Saturday morning. Since the Thames Barrier has been in existence, I haven't heard it but I guess it is still there.Peace.

we live just west of Edinburgh and we had an air raid siren in the village and it was tested every 2 years.then in the 80s the government took them all down saying what was the point of giving us a 3 min warning the a nuclear strike was imminent
it would just cause panic.
