Thinking of buying a 307 (probably around 2004 model) I know they have had quite a few recalls on them in the last 2/3 years. Anyone know of any major problems to look out for with them

Hi, me and my partner got a 307 (year2003) in 2004. we have had nothing but trouble with it! We are now going to get rid of it!
In the beginning, problems like the lights bulbs on the display were constantly going, indicator switches always being replaced, foot pedals seizing up and then having to be replaced. The Engine is now needing special attention again, 2nd time round. It is cutting out whilst driving and then unable to start! Leaving us stranded with 2 babies!!!!!!!
We have had our car for 20 months now, and it has been into Peugeots for repairs about 17 times already. Not including the next visit for the engine fault!!!
Not a car to buy, they are very unreliable! cant wait to get rid of! hope this helps your decision

i bought a 2004 xsi model about 3 months ago. Apart from some small annoyances (hard on tyres, wipers leave a big gap on driver side of screen, erratic automatic wipers ) i have had no problems with this car at all. Its a great driving experience. It won't be a classic, but is still a damn fine drive.

I had the misfortune of driving one from a customers house 20miles to our garage. The clutch was slipping slightly if you used any higher than 3000rpm so I was taking it easy 7 miles into my trip the clutch exploded taking out the gearbox casing, clutch slave cylinder, cooling fan and radiator. took it into peugeot with the aa guy and the mechanic said it was the third one he'd seen go but i was unlucky because usually the clutch pipe snaps and doesnt damage the fan or radiator. Bloody french cars.
