I wonder why people would want to have babies at that age - just simply from the work-load point of view. They are so tiring and really if you are young and fit, you have so much more energy and strength to give them the nurture that they require.
Secondly, if you have a child at the age of 67 and the average lifespan of a woman is 80 for example - your child will be 13 years old and have to deal with the death of a parent. And probably by that age will have lost their father as well. So being an orphan at the age of 13 isn't all that exciting.
Thirdly, there is a very minute chance that the old parents will ever see their grandchildren. What will Christmas and birthdays be like for the family?
I feel it's a bit tragic to have children when you're over 50.
Having kids between 35-45 is becoming more common and with changes in health and lifestyle I think it's not such a bad idea.

Usually women at age 67 are past child bearing age. I cannot imagine having a child/children at that age. Men age 70 having children??? They do not raise the children. The mother is the one to raise the children--in most cases. They just plant the seed. They do not even have to give birth. They do nothing (usually) toward raising the child unless it is finiancial. And they are usually gone (dead) before the child reaches adulthood. The 67 year old mother will likely be gone (dead) before the children reaches adulthood. But life goes on.
I was over 35 when I started having children so I am confident in what I say. A parent is a parent at whatever age. There can be good or bad at whatever age.

My mom is 40 and Im 24 I love our age difference though growing up at times I felt like I didn't have much of a mom...more a best friend. I now appreciate her young age! She also has alot of life left and I have a life of my own. I also have 2 kids myself, I did wait a little longer than she did but that was more on stablization not on too young. I think its up to a doc to decided though. If your 67 and took care of your body so its in Awesome shape and the doc says you can have twins with no problems then there isn't a thing wrong. It would then be the mom's moral decision...does she want her kids most likely not have parents at there graduations, cause life expectancy isn't very high.

I don't believe that being a good parent has anything to do with age. On the other hand, if you have a child at 67 there is the very real possibility that you will die, leaving your child an orphan, before your child reaches the age of 18. I do not think that is fair on the child.

I think 67 is too old to be having kids because you won't live to see your grandchildren grow up because by then you will be 100. Having kids over 35 is not a bad thing and sometimes they do make better moms because they usually have more resources but having kids too old can affect the kids health and the parents ability to raise them. My great grandmother died when I was 27 and I would have never gotten the chance to know her if she had her kids at 35 because then she would have been too old and could have even died before I was born. So having kids younger to me is better because you can live to see your children grow up as long as you health is good.

I am 51. I would be suicidal if I found out that I was pregnant with twins.
Thank goodness or hysterectomies.
35 year olds having babies is cool. You are more relaxed then and usually your finances are better than when you were in your 20's
But 67--no way. That isn't fair to the the children

Older parents are usually better at parenting since they have more experience but not in giving birth.
Aging effects the reproductive system for both sexes, but not significantly for men. Men can still have viable sperm at the time of their death. However, for women, it is different because they are the one's growing the baby. Old age weakens their ability to support the baby.
And also, old age increases the incidence of premature births, miscarriages, and disabilities.

I would never be able to have a kid past 50. To me, there's a greater possibility that you wont be there when your child wakes up one morning. I plan on adopting one or two babies from Vietnam when I'm 25, then when the babies are three either adopt one from Ethiopia or have a biological one and then matbe adopt another. I want to have 3-4 kids by the time I'm 35. When those kids get a little older I might want to adopt again, but past 50? No way. But that's just me.

You seem to be very intelligent and understanding of many things. For that, I'm sure your parents are very proud. Most people don't get to pick their parents so you have asked a rhetorical question, except that I think some people are better parents when they are older.

Not really. My parents are both 40 and they are okay. Parents over the age of 35 are VERY cranky. Well mine are at least.
