What type of psychology is one that gets turned on by destruction mayhem, and war? I would have joined the Marines long ago if we could fight in Europe again. I don’t want to kill poor brown people so the Iraq war would not satisfy my appetite.

Pretty much every kid with a game console gets excited by destruction, mayhem, and war. Saving Private Ryan has some of the most intense battle scenes ever recreated in a motion picture, so there's not much mystery to it... it's pretty exciting stuff.
As for really wanting to be in that type of situation, I'm not so sure you'd be salivating if you were there. It's a little bit different getting shot at and something I highly recommend trying to avoid whenever possible.
I'd recommend getting an XBox 360 or PS3, picking up a few first person shooters, and working it out of your system that way.

The opening sequence is very very hard....
Other people do just start vomiting.... Trust me.
The first 21 minutes are so awful hard...
And never forget : You are in the middle of a
Spielberg-movie !!!

Yeah, I quite enjoyed watching them getting shot before they were out of the landing crafts as well. Serves them right for raping our women.
