Just bought a new HP 14.1 notebook and I took it with me to my parents' house. They didn't have a router so I couldn't roam around with my notebook as I usually do. However, I noticed that their neighbor had a unsecured wireless network and when I tried clicking on it, it wouldn't even attempt to connect. Is there something wrong with my notebook's wireless card or what? Can anyone help?

nm

I figured out why by reading some of the other q and a's regarding unsecured wireless networking; probably has something to do with the network enabling known MAC access only

What was the message you go when you tried to connect? If it made no attempt to connect, it might be an issue with signal strength.
