I just built my own PC, and I put in a 1.86GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. I've never been able to overclock before since I previously had Dell or Sony BIOS'. I'd like to get it to maybe 2GHz for each. Overclocking my memory would be nice too. I have a Gigabyte mobo.

Most newer gigabyte boards have a windows based overclocking utility.

But be sure you have adequate cooling, before you decide to toast your cpu.

I especially doubt you may desire to do something with that workstation besides throwing it away. If this is a type call workstation like HP, Dell, Sony and so on. they generally lock the constructive properties interior the BIOS making you unable to regulate any frequencies or voltages. you're workstation is so out dated. purely 512mb of ddr2 ram, small hdd, previous CPU and Motherboard, in all probability integrated photographs. i'm guessing that this workstation is definitely over 3 years previous. Time to enhance. in spite of in case you may desire to overclock it does not do a lot for you. any further questions? chuffed to help.

Google this or get a book or mag on the subject.

The speed increase will not be much and the risk of having a problem are high.

Best to buy more ram and a new cpu if you are not happy with the speed of your PC

I don't think your PC would like to be overclocked... It heats up faster and will die someday
