I was wondering if there's any transgendered and/or transsexuals who are doctors, lawyers, judges, police officers and any other fields. I just get the impression that alot of them are in fashion and entertainment.

Google "Lynn Conway"- she is a professor of elecrical engineering at the University of Michigan. (And, yes- she is a MtF transsexual).

Once you are at her site, click on the "successful TS women" link and that should answer your question nicely.

I'm sure there are some out there holding positions such as those you mentioned. But, I believe that most who choose careers in the fashion and entertainment industries do so as a matter of choice. An important fact that you may consider, before most people actually have the sex change, there is a lot of psychological therapy that one has to undergo before he is given the okay for the operation. Therefore, people who already have a professional career, as well as the unprofessional, may be denied this permission for whatever reason(s). Permission is not easily granted. But, due to our changing society, therapy takes place at a much younger age now allowing for more therapy as well as academic studies. So I suspect in the future transsexual doctors and lawyers will be not so uncommon.

This doesn't have anything to do with what you were asking, but me and you are wearing the same hat!

75% of the transsexuals here in San Francisco do not have a full time job. There is still a LOT of discrimination, even here.
I am a Commissioner for the City and County of San Francisco. I'm also the director of the speakers bureau at Project Homeless Connect. Another woman is on the Police Commission. A friend is on the Veteran's Commission. And, yes, we are all transsexual women.

lol I'm studying to become a paralegal then may go back and become a civil rights family lawyer, the computer field is very hostile towards TS so Ive found out, since the majority who do the computer work are men, they dont like "fags" around them, but i know a web site developer who is a TS, and also a dentist who is a TS, and lol even a state trooper in my state who is a TS, not all get the good jobs but the majority of those under the age of 40 most of the time do. after 40 things kinda fizzle out for most people and no one seems to want to hire the older more mature crowd, dunno why but that's the way with jobs these days. I myself was a computer field tech, used to run to sites and fix computer issues. but most of the time TS get normal jobs just as yourself.

For years I had a hairdresser that I really liked. She was very good at styling hair and gave me excellent tips on makeup. Her name was Heather, and she was tall and very pretty. It wasn't until someone told me, that I found out Heather used to be Howard. You can imagine how surprised I was to discover that she was transgendered. But then I started noticing things like the way she walked and carried herself -- and how broad her shoulders were. So I guess some of them go into the cosmetology business. However, I see no reason why they couldn't pursue other professions they feel comfortable with.

Alot of them work among us, but may not be in full drag. They have computer jobs, own business....some are discreet and let their hair down at night. Some are very profn. and know how to distinguish business & pleasure. Just like u have to put a face on at work they also do the same.

yes because there's no law saying that if you're a transsexual, then you can only work in the fashion and entertainment business.

I know of one that fixes cross eyed little kids.

She lives to help little kids with that problem. I gather she is some kind of surgeon. I am not sure how she does it.

She is an eye specialist. Maybe she does it without surgery. I just don't know. I never asked.

Your impression is wrong.

Transsexuals are capable of working in any field they choose as long as they make the grades....just like you or I can. Isn't that amazing!!
