van halen or led zeppelin?

they are both so good! which is better? WHY?

This is a question that shouldn't even have to be asked. Van Halen isn't even in the same arena as Led Zepplin. Eddie Van Halen is a hell of a guitar thrasher, and both David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar had their entertaining qualities, but most of their albums are a few simplistic pop hits surrounded by crap nobody listens too without at least having first downed a full 12 pack of Natty Light on a country backroad. These guys also keep trying to come back when they are WAY past their prime. They've even had lead singers nobody can even name, and have made a mochery of themselves.

Led Zepplin, on the other hand was a highly influential and innovative bad whose songs were highly complex and contain instrumental arrangements that border on classical music, while still holding their rock power. Robert Plant was a mystical being whose heartfelt lyrics stand the test of time even today. Jimmy Page is probably in the top 5 all-time guitar players, and their songs have many time changes and variances that prove their musical genius. They also had the wherewithall to disband when their drummer John Bonham died and have left their legacy intact by not trying to plug the holes and keep the bad going long past it's prime.

ODD ANALOGY THAT JUST CAME TO MIND BUT IS ACCURATE:

Van Halen is to Mike Tyson what Led Zepplin is to Mohammed Ali. Case closed.

Van Halen is a great guitar player, arguably one of the very best, but i like Led Zeppelins music better and Jimmy Page was also a heck of a guitar player.

Led Zeppelin, definitely :). Van Halen has some great songs, but as far as diversity and pure diversity, I think Led Zeppelin is hard to beat. Good luck
