Football players are employed by companies with a lot of money, some of it raised by spectators paying to watch, sponsors paying, investments, etc.
Soldiers are employed by the government who dont really give a toss about paying people what they're worth.
Why does Elton John get paid so much when all he does is sing, when I only get a pittance for spending all week helping the less fortunate to sort out their lives? I contribute more to society..... or do I?

because there is a lot of money in football. The teams only make money through the players so it is only fair that they get the benefits.

The other thing is that football players have a career of 20 yrs or so and so have to live a life off of 20 yrs pay. I know this sounds silly but most players earn a small fraction compared to the big names. Their wages are quite fair considering.

Because the paying public don't want to turn up in ther thousands to watch people kill each other... but the football wages are far too high, there should be salary capping of £25,000 a week. I mean, how many ferarris do those guys need? But, To be honest, the guys in the army, much as i admire what they do, if they don't like the wages, they shouldn't join... they are there by choice...

My dear friend,
I'm Italian and i perfectly know our Championship.
You're right!
Let's change all rules ! Football is not so necessary if we think ...
It's only a question of sponsor (Diadora, Nike and so on ) and all contratcs with pay per view and digital televisions (in Italy its name is Sky or Mediaset Premium!).
Italian Football has changed. It's a businness since fourteen years not a game.
I'm totally fed up !

They play the best sport of earth and entertain millions every week. But i still think they get paid too much. i mean players like lampard, ballack ronalddinho and beckham get paid over 100k a week.

Horrible answer, but here goes. It's simple supply and demand.

Any fool can act as cannon fodder, and nobody will pay vast amounts to watch them do their job live and on TV.
Soldiers, large supply, low demand.

Premiership footballers are men at the top of their profession, and countless thousands of people will pay handsomely to watch them do their job.
Footballers, low supply, high demand.

We can pay soldiers more if you want - you'll have to pay more tax to fund it though.

Lack of priorities...same reason that fireman and teachers make **** and then taxpayers pick up the tab for billionaire owners and millionaire players to build new stadiums...we watch sports to help us forget how hard life is and let us relive our own "glory days." Maybe it's not all bad now that I think about it...definelty has its role.

Everyone can't play football well. Only the one's with super cool skills can play.
And, besides, anyone can go to war with those stupid arms to fight. If they wanna earn more money, they shld join football clubs. And, who asked them to fight?? If they don't wanna fight they shldn't.
