The whole concept of a new beginning -- a chance to start over -- is natural to a new year. And just how many times can a person start over? How often can you make and break the same resolution?

I gave up making New Year's resolutions long ago.

Your New Year's resolutions are things that you want to improve in the coming year. If you have not done well in a specific aspect in your life in the past year, you have the next year to improve them. You don't pick just one day to improve, you try to do so the entire year. I think that having New Year's resolutions are a good idea, because it's good to set targets to improve yourself in the coming year.
