This would be great if they did. But i don't think it will ever happen in my lifetime. It makes sense other division schools do it division 1 is the only one that doesn't. They say it would hurt the bowl games I think this is hogwash. If they went to a 8 team playoff they would make more money than most bowl games combined. It has the potenial of being bigger than the superbowl if this should happen.

Instead of replacing the BCS with a playoff series, lets evolve the BCS into a playoff system. We start with 11 Div 1A conference winners. The Div 1A conferences being (in no particular order) MAC, MWC, SBC, SEC, ACC, Big 10, Pac 10, Big East, Big 12, WAC, and C-USA. Add the 5 highest ranked teams in the BCS rankings which did not win their conference to round out the field to 16 teams. Seed accordingly and schedule according to the seeds (1 - 16, 8 - 9, 4 - 13, 5 - 12, 2 - 15, 7 - 10, 3 - 14, 6 - 11) and four weeks later you have a national champion that was actually decided on the field and not by the voters.

No way, the schools would loose so much money for bowl game sponsorships and ruin the tradition that these bowls have had over the years, also you still have to determine who is in the top 8or 10 for the playoff and still its what team gets hot at the right time not the best team, so I say leave it alone how is saban going to make his $4m in alabama, from bowl games and alumni, the alums aint going to be happy since they are a few years from making the top 8 or 10 so the alums will stop giving money if alabama cant be on a national stage which will force the athletic director of alabama to vote against the playoff seystem, which will happen with almost all schools, a great examle is notre dame which would not have made the playoffs but they still got there big bowl game and big bucks

They really should, If the organize it right it will bring in more money, and that way there wont be anymore controversy about the national champ. they are the only major sport in college or pros i can think of that doesnt have a tourny/playoffs
Take the top 8 in the bcs rankings, that play in the BCS bowls anyways and put them in a 3 game play off, and keep the rest of the bowls for everybody else

the 1st around is very pointless--it is invariably whilst the optimum seeds do away with the final seeds (different than for the Grizzlies it is an extremely rare exception). premier the 0.33 and 4th seeds are ineffective. in spite of the undeniable fact that the breaks do help. If the Bulls' Rose gained harm and there became as quickly as no ideas-set he might desire to play day after on the instant back, the opposing team won't get a fluke win.

I'm not sure how they would do it, but I've been screaming for NCAA Division 1 playoffs for years. The current format doesn't usually reward the true best team.
