If it was a country, California would have the world's 7th largest economy . The climate is more varied whereas Florida can be miserable with its constant heat and humidity. The scuba diving is great in both states, but the snow skiing is in California.

If you would prefer to live in an area where you could travel to many different climates in a very short time, then California if for you. You could be at the beach in the morning and snowboarding in the afternoon in certain parts of California.
If you would prefer a rather flat terrain and fairly mild in winter, hot in the summer climate, then you should choose Florida.
Also, if you are a salt water sports enthusiast then I would live in Florida where the water temperature is rarely below 65 degrees in any area of the state in the winter and can be in the upper 70's and 80's in the summer. In contrast, the ocean water temperature in California is decidedly much colder, even in the summer.
Having been to both, I chose Florida.

They are both grossly overpopulated (with both citizens and illegals). Traffic is awful in both states (although, if you avoid major cities in either, it does get better). The weather is nice in both, but Florida tends to run into that unbearable humidity while California has more stable temps year round. It really depends on where you are in either. If you're looking for a busy, city atmosphere, both offer a lot of entertainment or you can live in the outskirts and live more relaxed.

I guess that doesn't really give much differences. They are both similar in lots of ways.

Well in California you have to deal with Mexicans who don't speak English. At least the Cubans in Florida seem to make attempts at learning so I'll go with Florida. Plus the babes in Florida are much hotter.

California has earthquakes, Florida has hurricanes. Other than that they are both the sunshine state. Which ever one you prefer. Me , I'll take Florida anyday.

You can't compare a man to a woman. Each is different. But a man, and a woman, complement each other. In other words, one man and one woman (together) is one unit. They are a complementary pair.
