I have had this problem also. It is a combimation of the material and the time it takes to dry after you use the towel. In the process it gets moldly and bacteria grow which causes the smell. One of the main reasons it doesn't come clean properly in the wash after use for me has been due to "hard water" detergent doesn't work as well. Now I put "Borax" in the water when I wash smelly towels. That has worked. I suggest you smell all of your clean washed towels. Any that are smelly you rewash with detergent and borax.good Luck

If they are dark blue, it may be that they dye stinks . and the body heat from towelling yourself off sets of some sort of reaction .... White towels have no dye ... Also, what do you wash them with? Could it be that whatever else is in the washer is really soiled and that they do not get a proper wash? Do you overload the washer? The best thing to do, to my mind, is to give them a second rinse .... can you isolate them and set the washer to a short rinse then spin cycle? That might work. If not .... hey, I tried! Happy New Year!

your question is not weird...i think in the case of white towels after you use the towel right, than you let it dry immediately, whereas the blue towels are often forgotten, its not that you do it purposely and it lies at the floor crumbled up and it get to dry later when you notice...as a result it stinks...i don't know...maybe that's what happening.

Have you at any time left them in the washing machine (forgotten) and they soured? It may take several washings and even some bleach to get that smell out.

Maybe they are made of different material or different quality than the white ones.. maybe they are picking up odors from the closets or maybe it's mildew?

It may still be damp when it was folded and put away. Either that or it was not rinsed properly.
