That's sort of like getting hit by a train, a large mass moving with great force can't stop on a dime when someone crosses it's obvious (hard not to notice) path of travel. These are considered "emergency vehicles" and have the right of way. I don't know the specifics of the incident but it sounds like Darwinism in action to me. Like the guy who skied into teh snowblower at a ski resort a few years ago. He won't do that again.
