Maybe Mythology is no myth or maybe loosely based on fact…
Could the Devil be Hephaestus. Notice the resemblance, half goat and all.
In the bible they say there are two beasts. They say Satan’s mark is 666, while the devil has cloven feet.
"And his number is Six hundred threescore and six"
We can find original text written in Greek, Latin as well as Hebrew. The Greek alphabet was assigned numerical values (The X gives the Z sound of Xylophone) X (=Chi) 600; Xi (shaped like a curled capital E) 60 and S (Sigma) 6. (Although Sigma is no longer used, it was) Thus 600, 60 and 6 spells XES, the Greek spelling for Zeus. In the KJV translation - where the name of the prophet Elisha (meaning 'My God is Saviour') has been retained in the paganised form 'Eliseus' (My god is Zeus). In similar fashion, the Name of the Hebrew Messiah YAHU'SHUAH (meaning 'YAHU is Saviour') has been paganised to read 'JeZeus', ('God is Zeus') which later became 'Jesus' in the English language (pronounced 'Jezus').
600 (X), 60 (Xi,=E), 6 (S) the number of his name, clearly spells XES the original Greek spelling for ZEUS.

is the devil ready a devil. I'm assuming you are asking if hte devil is really a devil. And the bible says that when we get to heaven we will be revealed what the devil REALLY looks like and we are going to laugh. So yes he is a devil, but no he is not what is shown in movies.

Assuming you mean "really".
I have never met him so I cannot say for sure.
Let me put a spin on it for you that many people don't like.
The devil traps bad souls, right? Don't the police do this too?(Hypothetically this is what police ought to do.)
The devil tempts you, people tell me. Doesn't the police do this all the time with their undercover ops? Just a thought, maybe the devil is just a spiritual police officer?
I believe that all things in the universe exist for the reason of balance.

If you mean, "Does the devil really look like we depict, red with horns and a pitchfork and forked tail and cloven hooves?" then the answer to that one is "no." The devil isn't described like that in the Bible, so what early artists did is, they took a good of the previous pagan religion (Pan, a faun or satyr) and used HIM as their image of the devil. Except... red, because of the heat of Hell. As others have already said, Satan was originally Lucifer--the best and brightest angel--until he rebelled against God (leading a third of His other angels) and was cast out of Heaven. The word "Satan" actually means "adversary." I'd be curious to know what Bible quotes cover the angelic rebellion, because most of what I've read about it is in Milton's Paradise Lost!

No.
The devil as in visual interpretations are adaptions taken from other cultures to represent a monster.
The character "Satan" in Christianity is the scapegoat of the religion. You can basically pinpoint almost every evil of the world to him. Satan himself is the first and perhaps the most powerful angel created by "God." His defiance for independance marked him as an enemy to God and the domain bodiless souls live in named "Heaven."
If you believe that the devil exists, then you are embracing an Abrahamic base of belief. Muslims, Jew, and Christians believe this.
Other cultures who may believe in devils may believe that there is more than one devil and no head master for them, such as Hades (God of Death) and Poseidon (cruel Sea God).

Yes, he is the real deal. Lucifer was the angel who fell from grace (basically tried to take over heaven) and now 'rules' the underworld. Lucifer was a favored angel, by the way. See what greed gets you? I'm thinking he had it all and then lost it all to fire and brimstone and none of the comforts of heaven.
