I've experienced someone make a person crazy by just mentally torturing them, no physical damage whatsoever.

Ah. Emotional Abuse. Except its intentionally applied, the person emotionally abusing is not unintentionally abusing this person. Wow I couldn't find any other way to phrase this....

Of course
people don't have to hit someone to abuse them
ex: spousal abuse with name calling, belittling, yelling

Mental torture could make anyone crazy! Not only that but I believe that someone who would go to the extreme of mentally torturing someone is mixed up in some bad, satanic stuff and could pass it on to a weak person. But I'm not sure, your question wasn't very specific as to the kind of torture and the seriousness of it.

Could you be referring to emotional abuse?
OR mental cruelty?
Mental cruelty has been commonly cited as a cause for divorce, being a form of abuse. I'm not sure if the law still phrases it that way.

I think there are two solutions.....the first one is not to react and not to give any importance just be yourself and do not show that it affects you.

The second one is to retaliate the same way and do the emotional torture or blackmail to him/her so that s/he knows what it feels like.
