How can I rectify this without downloading each update individually from Windows download centre

Microsoft has offered their updates on CD before, but the problem is that by the time the content is tested and sent to manufacture, the last dozen updates aren't included. Microsoft releases updates almost every week. That is difficult to manage via CD.

You can reduce your time downloading by manually selecting the downloads you need, and skipping the ones you don't need.

You can still order service packs on CD, so first make sure you are on the latest service pack before you start downloading.

It's in Start - Control Panel - Security Centre.

Is your copy of Windows genuine? You won't get updates these days with a "bootleg".
