Memo to fangtaiya: The traitor WAS convicted already and got a slap on the wrist by a Clinton judge.

If a Reagan appointee been the judge that traitor would never see the light of day again and likly would have been given the death penalty if it was an option.

Question is should Congress make treason a capital offence?

Lynne Stewart acted and still acts as a defense attorney for people that have been accused of terrorism The allegations have, as yet, not been proven. This has little to do with who appointed the judge. The judge in this case is following the Constitution of the United States.
If, hypothetically an American citizen did indeed engage in a plot to kill people, that would be a conspiracy to commit a crime. This is not a capital offense. If the plot was carried out and people did die, the offense becomes a capital crime. Still, before any punishment may be handed down, a crime must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Yes, feet first through a brush chipper would be to good for them. Curious the liberal judges who refuse to use MANDATORY sentencing prescribed by federal law, would ignore it to let Stewart off (General Bendict Arnold did far greater service for this country before turning traitor, and he still would have been hung if caught, but we make celeberities out of traitors these days. people who gave Stalin nuclear secrets smile and say how glad they were they helped "balance" nuclear power and thus maintained the "peace", but little events in 1962, 1983 and 1994 and perhapos many more still classified incidents when we came within a push of a button from extinction, makes me desire to see them strapped to the very next nuclear bomdb someone tests), then turn around and use mandatory sentencing for a gun related crime to put two border patrol guards in jail for doing their jobs. The mandatory gun-related-felony sentence was meant for using on violent criminals using guns to commit felony offenses, such as robbery, rape or murder, instead of letting them out after a few years to repeat their crimes, liberal judges have a problem understanding this. Instead they side with the drug dealer who illegally (repeatedly) entered the United States. And those citizens helping illegals that enter not to work but to attack and destroy the USA or it's government, are also traitors. If they use religous networks or facilities in those attacks, our "seperation of church and state" should allow, not prevent, the dismantling of those networks and places where those attacks and terrorism are plotted or launched from. Treat the muslims or KKK or neonazis like they were Branch Davidians, make them worship in the open where they can be watched and can't stockpile weapons.

There are about two major views views on this, mainly concerning the death penalty in general. One view sees the death penalty unconstitutional and that the goverment does not have the right to take life. This side also argues that are executions are painful and in humanitary. This is a popular beleive umong democrats. Another view (followed generaly by rebublicans and independents) is that people involved in betrayal of the country and murder should die for there actions or plans.
In my humble opinion (I support Green Party all the way) traitors, murderers and terrorists should be executed by any means neccesary, no matter how painful (Its not like a terrorist or murderer cared that HIS victims were in pain). Death penalty, in my eyes, is in no way unconstitutional. I also beleive that terrorists and prisoners of war deserve no rights. Interrogations should be led " KGB Style" using any means to get a confession that might save countless lives. Terrorists laugh at our silly laws, knowing we cant do a thing, while they decapitate soldiers and innocent reporter on live TV.

No matter what your opinion, I hope this helps.

Yes ... I think you'd find a sharp drop in the amount of treasonous acts currently being committed in the name of 'our right to know' as the New York Times says every time it publishes security breeches leaked by some liberal D.C. operative, Senator or U.S. Representative.

There was a time, not so long ago, that leaking security secrets of this country to the general public was considered treason and was punishable by one of two sentences ... imprisonment or death. Oh, to bring back the good old days! There's nothing like letting enemies of this country know our exact and current military and information collecting capabilities!

The National-Union feels that such citizens should be tried and convicted based on reasonable doubt. The maximum punishment should be life in prision for plotting the attack and death penalty for attacks that were successful, http://www.voteprimous.com

In a democracy like USA there is a clear difference between criticizing and trator. In dictatorships there is not. Criticism of govt policy in USA is not punishable. Critics are not treated traitors in USA
