The info that I am reading says that Skipper came out in 1964. She has a outfit also dated 1963. Is this an original I have in my hand?

The mark on the doll is 1963 because that is the year the doll was designed and copyrighted but they weren't available to stores until 1964. Value depends on condition and also rarity of the outfit. Check ebay's completed listings to see what they are currently selling for.

check on E-Bay what they've sold for and it depends a lot on condition of the doll....
