There are so many different ways i would like to attempt to answer this question but i think the lesson i have really learned and am beginning to try to apply to things is that sometimes the knocks are so hard you have to make an attempt to adapt yourself in ways you might never have considered.

Think for Yourself.

While it's often hard to avoid the "herd mentality", especially in the teen years, at least be aware of the herd...Never allow the Madison avenue fatcats to tell you what and how to think.

These are the same people who routinely destroy the self-esteem of young girls of every generation for the sake of clients' sales and their own profits.
They manipulate millions of vulnerable young people into believing that they aren't quite good enough, but if they buy the right products they might have a chance...

These are they guys who constantly bombard the public with sweetened lies, disguised as helpful advice, and market one silly fad-product after another...and they see each one of us as cattle...a brainless buying machine just waiting for them to tell us what we want and need next.

Through their favorite medium (the idiot box) they insist on thinking for you...and they think you need to spend more money you don't have on more junk you don't want.

Never "go along to get along"...I'm not saying you should be a rebel or an outcast, but at least be aware of the herd, and recognize when you're being tricked into doing, buying, wearing, or being something that wasn't originally your idea.

Always treat others, all others....as you would want to be treated yourself. We are all God's children. We are all equal in His Eyes, and we should be equal in our eyes as well. Sometimes, others will not do the same, but you do it anyway.

We all have similarities, as well as differences. We need to accept that everyone has their own thoughts, beliefs, and traditions. We need to learn from our diversities, and embrace our similarities.

Not to take life so seriously in your younger years and to enjoy them while you can, because when you grow up, there's so many responsibilities and real worries that you will have that it's important to enjoy the time without them while you're young.

I'd teach them to always be themselves, listen to their inner voice, not letting themselves being influenced by what others think or say.

Or as Gabriel Garcia Marquez said:
"To a child I shall give wings, but I shall let him learn to fly on his own".

Listen to God. When I try to live my life the way I want to, I make a mess of it. He will guide you down the straight and narrow path that doesn't lead to distruction.

Live on a budget and always save money. Also, don't always be so trusting of people. You always have to be aware of people's motives.
