I think I'll name my first born son(if I have one) after me. The rest would be because of my heart. It's their name. The only thing they'll own all their life.

I think when naming your children you should really consider everything! And unless you plan on your child living in your home forever and giving them an allowence until you die, then yes, you should give them a name that will help them in the buisness world. There have been studies done that show that resumes of people with odd names may not get as much serious attention a those with names like Mary, John, Michael, etc...
My daughter's name is Alison Paige and i think that it will carry well throughout her life, and its meaning is 'honest child' which i also like! Alison has 6 letters, which was important to me for personal reaons, and the name 'lisa' is also in the name, which was the name of a best friend of mine who was killed in a car accident. So it is possible to give a name that is both professional and stirs in your heart!

Well actually, in India, there are many names that can be given to children. And the meaning of the name can be derived from the name itself. Like my name, 'Siddhartha'. It can be broken up into two separate words, 'Siddha' and 'Artha'. In Hindi, 'siddha' means proven and 'artha' means 'meaning'. So this amounts to Proven and Definite Meaning. That's how we name children in India.
Getting a job with a name should be left alone as you should name your child as per your convenience. Name the child with something that is really close to your heart, or which pleases you most. Another way is that you observe the child for some days and depending upon it's nature, name the child. Plus if the child has an elder sibling, then the name of the child and his/her sibling would sound good if their first letters are the same.
My sister is named 'Parul'. Parul is defined in Hindi as a species of very beautiful flower that pleases the Gods.
So, that's it...

When we chose our son's name, we had a very hard time finding boys names we even liked. We didn't want anything too common like Michael, John, names like that... but not too weird either. For a middle name, it was decided before the first name was chosen- and it was after a family member who had passed away....so his middle name has a meaning... we had both a boy and girl name picked out since we didn't find out the sex of our baby... and the girl name also had a name with meaning to it- after a family member... so if we have children in the future, the first name will be something we like, and middle name after family. So to me, it just makes their name that much more special. I don't think we really had to think about a future job because the names we picked out weren't that bizarre! lol
But, go with your heart mainly.

I beleive two names are the best way to go - One that stirs something in your heart and one that balances that out as a middle name. That way if you are called Cleopatra cause your Mum loved the name and you work in finance you could use your more conservative middle name of Sarah for example.

This is the time when you have to begin thinking of your child and thinking like a parent and putting the child's needs ahead of your own.
I once worked with a woman named Precious. Yes, Precious. This was in a professional business setting and it was very hard to take her seriously. She has to work twice as hard as anyone else, male or female to be taken seriously at work and even though she is a nice person, really has to be a beotch at work, especially toward men, to be taken seriously. I always felt sorry for her because when people heard her name for the first time they usually snickered and made fun of it.
Please...don't do that to your child! Feminine or cute names are fine but there has to be a line.

I picked a classic name for my daughter. I liked a lot of the trendy names but wanted something everyone other kid in her class wouldn't have. I also didn't want something so "different" that noone would be able to pronounce it or spell it.
You do want to consider how the name will affect them.
I like Biblical names. Our last name is long so I picked a short first name - Leah. And she definetly looks like a Leah.

I picked the name of my child because I liked the sound of the name I did not think of the chances of her getting a job because of her name. I did try to name her something hard to make fun of though unlike my friends name thier children Angus and Alchemy which though cool and interresting names probably will be made fun of in school kids are so cruel

I think about both. I have several names that I just love! I have to remember that they will grow up with these names. Will they be attractive names when they are older? You have to think about that. But the way parents(including me) name there children unusual names, I don't think it will be a problem. Most Kids in there generation will have unusual names. So I don't think it is a big concern for jobs. I say go with your gut!

I read on a magazine about the job applications and employers usually hire names like Mary, John, Elizabeth, Ryan, Lucas and they very rarely hire someone named Tamika, Sheneyney, Habib, Punjabi, Latasha, etc,,,, even though they have good resume

Your best bet to finding the best name for your child is to pick out what means the most to you. My son's name isn't commonly heard but it meant something to me and my husband. Don't let people tell you a name is good or bad. If you like it, go with it.
