yes, you can also play cd, dvd, and blue ray disks, some of the playstation 1 disks won't work but they give you a website so you can get them offline, so you can still play them.

you can play most titles on the ps3, but you should first check how well they function, or if they work at all on the PS3.

some titles like Final Fantasy XI don't work - here is a link to Playstations compatability website:

Just type in any title from PS2 or PS1 and they will tell you if it works good, or if there are graphic, audio, or memory problems, among many other problems.

I know that you can play ps1 games on the ps3 because you can download them from the ps3 Internet connection.

yes u can play some of ps1 games and dvd,mp3 filles addio filles but some of ps1 games can't work but it gives a web site u can open it and download it and play it .
