I am asking this question, because I thought about it. It must be a privilege to become a queen. Have the honor.. You still have royal treatment as a princess and the teachings of how to become a sucessful queen? Knowing you might not be a queen. Does this matter or low self esteem to the princesses that do not become a queen? Just a thought.

No, the title of princess actually has many uses. Most royal women in monarchial Europe were married off and then assumed the rank of their husbands... (so if you married a duke you would then become a duchess regardless of your former rank) The rank of princess does not necessarily mean "daughter of the King". Off the top of my head... the Princess de Lamballe friend of Marie Antoinette but was not in line for any throne. In some cases the title of Princess simply meant nobility. In Russia the daughters of the Czar were known as the Archduchesses.

No not all princesses become queens. If you have 5 sisters and all are princesses only one can become queen unless the other 4 marry kings of another country.

No, most princesses do not become queens. In earlier centuries, their main value was to marry well to increase the family interests. If they married a prince who was heir apparent or a king, then they would be a queen, but only as the king's consort.

I suspect only to the most ambitious and driven princesses. Hey, they all live in an atmosphere of wealth and pampered overindulgence !! And I imagine the role of queen gets less attractive if she will be the ruling queen rather than first lady to the king.
