I have never heard that and I disagree.
My bathroom is blue, green and white - I get mucho compliments.
Value - the shade of a color when choosing the mix - is important because not all blues and greens are complimentary.

I have never heard of this, and since I was little, I always colored things with both colors in the same picture and many times they were right beside each other.
To me, blue and green go together very well in pictures and decor. A green shirt and blue jeans looks good together to me.
Blue and green are the colors of the earth, the sky and grass. They are near each other on the color chart. They are both "Cool" colors in Art.
I think they are pretty together.

There is some classical history of art to add to that....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blue_Boy
Gainsborough painted "the blue boy" on a bet, as it was being taught at the time that blue was never to be prominant in a painting, and especially it should not dominate the forground of a painting. He proved this wrong, and it became on of the most popular portraits ever done.
What you're likely being told today is likley that too many "cold colours" will create an imbalance in a presentation. I mix blue and green all the time, and aqua is the most common colour I use in all of my paintings.

RULES !!?? YOU DON'T NEED THESE STINKING RULES sorry couldn't help myself. In the art field there is no rule of color only of taste both blue and green are cool colors and if you know about mixing colors blue and yellow mixed together makes green.Whoever said it was a rule. Is not an artist and don't know what their talking about {hint} they never heard the word aqua? no worries.

Just ignore that... Does the Earth look beautiful from outerspace? Sure it does :) Its the nicest looking planet, in my opinion. So there you go.
There is NO rule when it comes to colors! But maybe some shades of blue and green do look hideous together, perhaps because theyre so close to each other on the colour wheel, so there isn't much contrast. But who cares?! You think it looks good? Then go for it! ;)

Never heard of that! My favorite dress is blue and green. The biggest thing on earth, the ocean is blue/green!!!!! In Spanish we have a saying that goes ¨Of likes and colors, the authors have not written.¨ (Sobre gustos y colores no han escrito los autores) Or in the words of John Lennon, Whatever gets you through the night! Follow your own idea of beauty and the world will take notice.

It's likely because there are so many variations of blue and green that it would be difficult to choose which green looks best with which blue. Blues range from geenish to purplish hues, and greens vary from yellowish to bluish... add white to the mix and you've got a whole new range of colours.
I think with some education in colour theory you can learn how to break old rules and create harmonious combinations.

i've never heard of this rule either. the only thing is that they are not complimentary. red and green are complimentary colors and you use them when you really want something to pop out at you, same goes with blue and yellow, orange and purple... check out the color wheel. So maybe this is what you mean that the two aren't complimentary.
but there's nothing off limits to creativity.

I've never ever heard of that. Someone could only say that because it's their opinion. Not a rule!
